*The Ambridge Veterans of Foreign Wars and Ambridge American Legion will host a Memorial Day service at 11 a.m. Monday in P.J. Caul Park on 11th and Merchant streets. After the service, members will march onto the Ambridge-Aliquippa Bridge, where they will throw a wreath into the Ohio River in honor of those who lost their lives at sea. Refreshments will follow at the VFW.
*The Beaver parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday, proceeding along Third Street to the Beaver Cemetery, where a formal ceremony will take place. Representatives from the Tuskegee Airmen are the special guests in this year's parade. Veterans are invited to walk or be driven in the parade; meet at 9:45 a.m. at the borough building, wearing civvies or uniform. Sponsored by the Beaver Area Heritage Foundation.
*The Beaver Falls parade lineup will start at Kelly Hardware, 19th Street and Seventh Avenue. The parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday, traveling down Seventh Avenue to 10th Street and concluding at Sixth Avenue Park, where a memorial service will be held with guest speaker U.S. Rep. Jason Altmire, D-4, McCandless Township.
*Conway's parade starts at 11 a.m. Monday, followed by a ceremony at the Conway Veterans Memorial Park.
*The Coraopolis parade will take place at 1:30 p.m. Monday on Fifth Avenue. Traffic patterns will change at about 11 a.m. and remain in effect until the end of the parade.
*Economy will celebrate Memorial Day at the Veterans Memorial, 1000 Kenneth Campbell Way, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Monday. Free to the public and free refreshments. The event will feature a performance by accredited singer Alex Cherico. Guest speaker will be state Auditor General Jack Wagner.
*The Freedom parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday, and a program at the memorial on Third Avenue will begin at 9:45 a.m. Ages 12 and younger may participate in a patriotic bicycle decorating contest by meeting at the magistrate parking lot on Third Avenue by 9:15 a.m. All riders must wear helmets; pedal powered vehicles only.
*The Hookstown parade, sponsored by the Hookstown Volunteer Fire Department and Hookstown American Legion, will start at 11 a.m. Monday along Route 168 to the Legion, where a memorial service will be held at noon with guest speaker Charles Morgan. Refreshments will be served. The Air Force Reserve 911th Air Lift Wing in Moon Township will present a flyover at 11:15 a.m.
*Monaca's parade will start at 10:30 a.m. Monday on Pennsylvania Avenue.
*The New Brighton parade will form at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Third Avenue and 15th Street and will begin at 10 a.m. A service will follow at Townsend Memorial Park. Services will be held in the New Brighton Fire Department in the event of rain.
*Pittsburgh events: The Allegheny and St. Mary's Cemetery Association parade will start at around 10 a.m. Monday at 40th and Butler streets in Lawrenceville and will end with a memorial service at around 11:30 a.m. at the Allegheny Cemetery 1937 Soldiers Memorial.
*Rochester's parade will be re-routed this Memorial Day because of construction of the Rochester roundabout. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. at Rochester High School and will travel south on Virginia Avenue. The parade will make a right onto Pinney Street, and will conclude with a memorial service on the front lawn of the Rochester Elks Lodge.
*Sewickley's Memorial Day weekend will start with a flag retirement ceremony at 6 p.m. tonight at Riverfront Park. Music will start at 7:30 p.m. tonight and fireworks will be at 9 p.m. On Saturday, there will be a memorial service aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Osage at 10:30 a.m. The parade will be at 10 a.m. Monday on Beaver Street, with programs following at Wolcott Park and Sewickley Heights Cemetery.
