Former champions Seba United kept alive their hopes of advancing to the Digicel Premier League by denting Cavalier's chances with a 2-1 win in a return-round qualifying game at Jarrett Park on Wednesday night.

Goals in either half from Torrey Samuels and Omar Reid gave Seba their second straight win as they closed a three-game home stand to join Highgate of St Mary in the lead with eight points from four games with two games to go.

Substitute Lawrence Richards scored in time added on.

Seba picked up seven points from their three home games and will be away to Highgate in St Mary on Sunday and away to Rivoli next Wednesday as the series ends.

Despite back-to-back losses, Cavalier are not out of the runnings, but must win their two remaining games to have any hopes of returning to the Premier League.

On Wednesday, Seba showed a lot of improvement over the previous two games, managing to keep possession of the ball for long periods with crisp passes.

Samuels, who was given the starting nod over Jeremy Bucknor for the second straight game, shot Seba into an early lead after just 11 minutes, lobbing the ball over the head of Cavalier's goalkeeper Everdeen Scarlett after a pass from Iton Scott.

Kemar James, who is yet to score in the series after leading the Western Confederation Super League with 22 goals, should have done better in the 25th minute, but failed to get on to a pass from Deshawn Woolery that split two defenders on the edge of the box.

Cavalier had a great chance to level the scores just before the end of the first half, but Locksley Thompson's shots were blocked first by a defender and then goalkeeper Tristan Bernard who had left his line then dropped the ball.

Bernard was injured on the play and was replaced by Neil Lynch.

The free flowing game continued into the second half, but James missed wide with goalkeeper Scarlett at his mercy and then Samuels' shot was well saved by the goalkeeper.

Cavalier had their chances when a glancing header from David Laylor in a crowded box was just wide, while Jermaine Gray, who went on in the 59th minute, shot powerfully over the crossbar in the 65th minute.

Seba doubled the lead in the 69th minute when Reid, who was left unmarked at the far left post, cannoned the ball into the unprotected net from a cross swung in from the right.

After Gray hit the bar in the 86th minute, Richards beat Lynch with a superb long range shot that lodged high in the net in time added on.
