Launched less than a year ago, Leandra Medine’s The Man Repeller blog has already managed to catch the eye of some of the biggest names in fashion. All this week, Leandra will be blogging for Shopbop from NYFW.
Well, party people, it seems that’s a wrap. I am thoroughly going to miss reporting back to you here while we dissect new runway trends and relate them to animated characters, King Kong, other large unidentifiable animals, and creatures of outer space. Before we start shedding collective tears, though, I think it’s important we take one last look at some of the gems the end of New York Fashion Week offered. This season, even Hervé Léger sort of tailored his aesthetic to fit mine. (The operative phrase here is sort of.) So without further ado, I give you one last hurrah.
Are you seeing what I’m seeing? 3.1 Phillip Lim did the Muppets proud. Kermit always was my favorite frog, green my favorite color, and Phillip Lim my favorite man repeller. There’s nothing quite as gratifying as watching your favorite pastimes come together in a most sartorially eye-pleasing manner.
Nanette Lepore jumped on the printed floor-length bandwagon too, showing a teal plaid double-breasted coat, and then, in the same hue, a sheer long-sleeve maxi dress with what looked like zebra-print wedges. There’s an untapped animal print begging for some play time! I couldn’t help but dub it: Little House on the Prairie gets a fashion week makeover.
