Shilpa Shetty promotes ‘The Desire’ at New York City International Film Festival

Shilpa Shetty stole everyone’s gaze as she walked the red carpet at the gala opening of the 2011 New York City International Film Festival attired in a Tarun Tahliani’s adorable white dress. The actress was there to promote her upcoming film ‘The Desire - A Journey Of A Woman’ in which she stars alongside Chinese actor Xia Yu.

The movie has been written and directed by R.Sarath and produced by ‘10 Golden Star Entertainment’ Sunanda Shetty’s home production. The film takes pride in winning the ‘Best Narrative Feature Film’ at the Geneva Film Festival and was also screened at the prestigious Boston International Film Festival.

Shilpa Shetty comfortable with her bold scenes in ‘The Desire’

It has been a long time that Shilpa Shetty has done a full length meaningful role on the silver screen and the leggy lass is all set to get this done with her role as an Oddisi dancer in her next film The Desire: A Journey of A Woman. The film also has some very intimate scenes with her co-star Xia Yu but Shilpa maintains that she absolutely had no qualms in doing these scenes as these sequences are an integral part of the film, and have been aesthetically shot.

The film revolves around the story of a world famous Chinese painter is madly in love with Shilpa’s character Gautami, but she does not really respond to him.
“The film traces Gautami’s journey through a number of years. The love story is beautiful and the passion between the two characters is almost like a painting. I would say that it’s my character Gautami, who is bold, and not the scenes per say,” explains Shilpa.

A grand reception for Raj-Shilpa at the House of Commons

They got married two months back. They had a long honeymoon at the Bahamas and yet an extended one at the yacht, but the celebrations do not end year for the celebrity couple- Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra.
A grand reception was hosted at the House of Commons in London for the couple by a star struck British MP Kieth Vaz. “We are celebrating our wedding and the honeymoon just continues. I am very happy,” an elated Shilpa said adding that looking at the kind of enjoyment they are having, she should have gotten “married earlier”.

Speaking from London, Shilpa said, “I don’t know why I didn’t get married earlier! Marriage is wonderful when the man whom you marry is good, and mine is wonderful! Touch wood, I’m loving every minute of the marriage.”

Shilpa had informed about this reception much earlier saying, “The House of Commons reception is being thrown for Raj and me by British MP Keith Vaz who’s a dear friend of ours.”
Shilpa also added that she is eager to get back to Mumbai on Jan 8. “I’m missing Mumbai and can’t wait to get back.”

Preity Zinta throws sarcastic remarks on Shilpa Shetty

Both Preity Zinta and Shilpa Shetty are the owners of the IPL teams. Both have been successful actresses on the big screen. So, it is but natural that there would be jealousy, bitching and cat-fights between the two but the kind of statements Preity gave in for Shilpa on the occasion of FICCI’s 10th anniversary celebration can be called least professional.

When asked about the Shilpa-Preity IPL competition, Preity said, “She is not going to play cricket.” She then added, “I own a team, I am an investor in the team, I am the chairperson of the team. It is very difficult for them to digest that I am the boss.”

Preity here supposedly forgot that even she is not going to play cricket and that Shilpa is the boss too of her IPL team Rajasthan Royals. Shetty girl was politically correct saying, “Our teams are in competition.”

Shilpa Shetty to tickle the taste buds this time

It was the uncooked chicken which had gained controversy in the Big Brother house and Jade Goody had famously dubbed Shilpa as “Shilpa Poppadom” when she was in the house.

Now, the Big Brother winner Shilpa Shetty has launched a range of readymade gourmet meals in the U.K. Shilpa, who lives in Surrey with her fiancé, entrepreneur Raj Kundra, has acquired a 33 per cent stake in the V8 Gourmet Group. Her range to be developed by her jointly with master chef Andy Verma would be ‘Shilpa’s Gourmet Creations’ which will offer low fat chutneys, pickles and spices. The development of the range is expected to take about eight to six months time and so it will hit the U.K. market next year. Among others the range will also offer lamb, fish, chicken and vegetable dishes. The spice range will be organic.

When Shilpa was asked whether Poppadoms will be part of the range, Shilpa replied, “Poppadoms do show we have a sense of humour, we intend on giving them out for free. I do hope they are not called Shilpa’s Poppadoms.”
