Outkast’s Big Boi Was Arrested for Drugs
The rapper was arrested Sunday by Miami police for possessing ecstasy and other drugs.
Big Boi, whose real name Antwan Patton, was arrested by customs officials exiting a cruise ship.
He was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the Miami-Dade County authorities, Big Boi was also carrying the main ingredient in ecstasy and Viagra pills, for which he had no prescription.
The 36-year-old performer was booked and later released on $16,000 bond.
Big Boi’s attorney, Daniel Kane, released a statement about the arrest, saying, “While Big Boi was traveling with his group and friends, a small amount of contraband was found in the collective luggage.”
Kane continued, “I am confident when the entire facts are aired Big Boi will be completely exonerated.”
Outkast was formed by Andre’ Benjamin (who later became known as Andre 3000) and Patton (Big Boi) in the 1990s, with hits such as “Hey Ya” and “Ms. Jackson.”
Big Boi once released a solo effort, “Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty,” but not as successful as the duo’s achievements.
May you learn from your lesson, Big Boi!
